Shpigler the Shark Tells You How to Raise Money From VCs
I love Shpigler the Shark. Here Shpigler gives his tips on how to get VCs to invest in your business. It’s all a game, you see, and what you have to do is get them to believe you are the hottest thing. Kind of like film and TV eh? I think we can apply The Shpigler principles to broadcasters and other funders very easily.
I am moving to Newfoundland in a few days so am all over the place. If you have any questions, ask Shpigler
And Just As Easily As I Had Disappeared, I Magically Reappeared Into Google
After 9 days of being unceremoniously dumped from Google’s pages, my site got relisted in the Google search engine.
I was checking my site stats, forlornly and dejectedly, and much less often since the numbers were so low since being demoted, when I immediately noticed that at 3pm I had 55 page views. Considering for the past week 44 page views was my all time high, this meant something was up.
Quickly I did a search for “Charlie goes to candy mountain” in Google, and there was Bitter Tonic listed two spots below YouTube. I double-checked my other pages, and yup, they were all there too.
And so with all my investigating, I have come to the conclusion that my reason for being dumped was just one of those accidental things. In fact, Google writes about this candidly on their webmaster page.
While we’re always working to include more content in Google, sites can occasionally fall out of our search results. Our spiders regularly crawl the web to rebuild our index, but keeping tabs on billions of pages is tough work, and we may miss a few.
Ouch. And wow. Definitely a distressing learning period.
No commentsIntroducing the Strange Duck Media Blog
The good egg has finally bit the bullet and decided to blog.
Why, you may ask? Aren’t there tons of blogs out there all ready? Well, there sure are. But I believe there’s room for more.
As a web and video design consultant and designer most often working with small to medium-sized businesses, start ups and artists, it has come to my attention that the range of computer literacy and Internet experience amongst us is vast indeed.
Sadly, I have often come across clients, family and friends who have no idea what I – or most of the people on the web- are talking about. Their smile politely as their eyes wander, they stifle yawns feigning interest, and occasionally interrupt my sentences with a loud ” Hey, they have a special on wings tonight.”
One could get discouraged. But the fact is they DO want to know. They just need an “in.”
I will be taking the experience I gained while working as a demonstrator at the Ontario Science Centre and will write about web, graphic and computer stuff in such a way to make it non-scary, accessible, understandable and useful.
So, if you are technologically challenged, time harried, or a lapsing luddite, this blog’s for you.
